About - Chiara Ferrara
Clinic Manager & Rowing Coach
Experience
Chiara has always loved sport and had a go at pretty much everything, from shot put to figure skating, badminton to tap dancing. She took training seriously for the first time at 16 and when she took up roller speed skating .
Since then she has trained for a marathon, but her main focus is rowing, which she took up in 2004. In 2008 Chiara made the Cambridge Blue Boat and in 2009 I tried out for the Girls4Gold programme run by the EIS, who were searching for “athletic girls who have what it takes to win Olympic gold”, where she got offered a spot on the British Cycling Talent Team programme. She declined this offer to focus on her sculling and coaching instead, and is pleased with her progress.
Clinic Manager role
Impressed by how the people at HeadStart work, Chiara handed in her resignation in January to become HeadStart’s first Clinic Manager. After a couple of busy months, she is delighted to be working in the first HeadStart Sports Injury and Performance Clinic in Cambridge.
