June 2nd, 2010 - Goodbye Cathy, hello Martin

This week HeadStart bid a fond farewell to Sports Massage Therapist Cathy Gunn. Cathy has been working with HeadStart for over three years, but unfortunately has to take a step back from the sports injury world in the short term. Thank you for all your hard work Cathy, and good luck!

While we are sad to see Cathy go, we are delighted to announce the arrival of our newest addition to the team, Martin Smith, a Sports Massage Therapist with almost a decade of experience in many areas including football, rugby and ice hockey. Martin is incredibly motivated, with a passion to learn and improve everyday, so we are delighted to have him on board.

To book an appointment with Martin, call us on 01223 301636 or book online.

Our promise to be different

We know there is no such thing as a ‘quick fix’! Just as cars need more maintenance with age, the same goes for you!

1. You will not be told that you need weekly appointments indefinitely. How could we know this? What if you improve just after one session?

2. When you choose to work with us you’re not a case of ’subacromial bursitis’ - you’re a person with subacromial bursitis and its important to us that you understand your situation & how to correct it.

Consider the following:

You have regular massages, complete your rehab exercises, training overseen by the most experienced technical and strength & conditioning coaches, fully funded, sponsorship for replacement kit/equipment

or

You have a 9-5 full time job (although often longer when a big project is due), family, you’re trying to save money for the desperately needed holiday, you go to the gym once/twice a week, you take painkillers when something hurts, when its still there weeks later you go to the GP and ignore their advice to stop training - oh, and you’ve never considered going to a Sports Massage before because its bound to hurt a lot or you don’t think that panpipe music & smelly oil works for you!

How can we help you?

Its more than likely that you are not either of these extremes but Sports Massage can be used to help you.

Everybody is different - different sports, jobs, budgets, bodies. One size does not fit all!

We have the comprehensive knowledge about how bodies work, break, heal & recover. If you are an elite athlete who can only attend once every 6 weeks, or an office worker wanting 30mins twice a week we can tailor our sessions to your needs. Fewer sessions saves you money - but more emphasis is put on self-management, rehab exercises, and good health habits to get you better. This is something we are happy to help with as the whole aim is to get you improved and where you want to be!
